God Is Moving on Gen Z. The Only Question Is Whether We Will.
Something is cracking open in this generation. You can feel it in your bones if you stop long enough to pay attention. It is more than a trend. It is more than a demographic shift. It is the Spirit of God punching a hole through the fog and calling His people to wake up.
The Problem We Can No Longer Ignore
Young adults, Gen Z and younger millennials, are not trickling into the global workforce. They are flooding it. Millennials already hold the largest share of jobs in the United States, and Gen Z is on pace to fill nearly a third of all marketplace roles by 2030. They are stepping into every industry, every boardroom, every place of influence.
And they are exhausted. It is as if the enemy has drawn a circle around these generations and screamed, “Aim here!” Aim for their identity. Aim for their attention. Aim for their hope. They are being chewed up by noise and comparison. They are drowning in anxiety and isolation. They are stumbling under pressures no generation has carried at this scale. They want more than surface-level spirituality and watered-down verbiage that doesn’t offend. They want truth they can stake their life on. They want the real thing.
Here is the part that should shake us awake. Young men are returning to faith in numbers no one predicted. In the United Kingdom, church attendance among 18 to 24 year olds jumped from 4 percent in 2018 to 16 percent in 2023. Young men alone reached 21 percent. You do not see numbers like that unless God is doing something. Culture is not discipling them back into church. The Spirit of Christ is.
And the young women. Their burdens are even heavier. Higher depression. Higher anxiety. Higher loneliness. Higher relational turmoil. They are not drifting because they do not care. They are drifting because the war on their souls is vicious. If anyone deserves our compassion and our presence and our discipleship, it is them.
This is the problem. And this is not the time to admire it. This is the time to run toward the fire.
The Response: A Global Movement Rising
And here is the response. Look at what God is doing across our CBMC nations. It should make you want to shout.
In the United States, more than four dozen Young Professional teams have erupted out of the ground. Not because of marketing, but because young adults are hungry for discipleship.
In Africa, where half the population is under 35, youth movements are multiplying through nearly every ministry nation. It is a groundswell.
In the Netherlands, a simple YP pilot turned into a tidal wave of interest. They cannot find mentors fast enough. The demand is overwhelming.
In Malaysia, brilliant young professionals are gathering together, not to advance their careers, but to exalt Christ.
And rising with unmistakable strength is Young KCBMC in South Korea and North America. These young leaders carry a spiritual seriousness that defies their age. They gather with zeal. They lean into Scripture with conviction. They are becoming a movement of courage and gospel clarity. God is moving through them with real power.
This is not slow and steady growth. This is a global surge. And CBMC is on the front line of it.
The Call: CBMC Must Lead From the Front
The next generation is not running from Jesus. They are starving for Him. And God is calling the older generation to step forward with courage and humility and say, I will take responsibility for you. I will walk with you. I will show you what it means to follow Christ in the pressure cooker of the marketplace.
You. The one with decades of scars and stories. The one who has weathered storms and laid idols in the grave and discovered by experience that Jesus is better than anything the world can offer. You are the one they need. Not the polished version of you. The real you. The you who knows grace because you have needed it.
If we ignore this moment, we will be guilty of sleepwalking past a move of God. Jesus looked at His generation and said, You can read the sky but you cannot read the times. We must not be those people.
The times are screaming. The young are listening. The gospel is advancing. The Spirit is stirring.
If your nation has not launched a Young Professional movement, begin now. If you do not have mentors, call them out of the shadows. If you feel inadequate, good. God has a history of using the inadequate to shape the future.
The next generation is ready for more than religion. They are ready for Jesus. They are ready for discipleship in the real world. They are ready for spiritual mothers and fathers who will inconvenience themselves for a moment such as this.
The wind of God is blowing.
The only question is whether we move with Him.
